LtCol Christy Chai is a board-certified general surgeon with advanced training in Surgical Oncology and is a fellow of American College of Surgeons. She earned her B.A in Physics and Biology from Washington University in St. Louis where she received Howard Hughes Research Scholarship and graduated with Magna Cum Laude. She continued on her education at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, and her research effort was awarded with a Subspecialty Award in Surgery by Western Surgical Society Research Forum. She completed her general surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and surgical oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. During her training, she sustained clinical research interests where she produced numerous presentations at national surgical meetings and publications. She is also the recipient of Paul W. Myers Award for Excellence in Research in 2010 and 2011.
Currently, LtCol Chai is a surgical oncology faculty at San Antonio Military Medical Center, assistant professor of surgery at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and adjunct assistant professor of surgery at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. She is also involved in several cancer committee projects including Alamo City Cancer Council Breast Conference in 2014.
